Home, Sweet Home -- What's happenin'?

I thought I would take a minute to write a little post about some new, exciting things going on in our lives.

As I've mentioned several times already, we will be moving some time in the Spring/Summer. But that's not the full story: we will be buying a house! I was kind of shocked when we realized it was actually an option, but it is a great time to do it.

So far, we have had an offer accepted on our dream house. The only caveat is that it's a short sale, so there is an extra bank to deal with and it could take months to work everything out. Honestly, that could be perfect for us because our lease will end in May and, if we need to, we may go month to month.

So that's the big news. I'm also getting closer and closer to starting grad school, and I'm extremely excited to start. I've been looking over some of the school's info on career paths, and it just feels so awesome to finally have a direction and specialty.

I've also been working diligently on my Project Bags. I've finished one of them, and that launched me into a whole series of projects to redecorate our living room for Spring. I'll be sharing those and hopefully a couple tutorials over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

I'm finding that even with all these projects, I will still have a lot of fabric left over. I'm hoping to put them to use in some more home decor projects, but I'm running out of ideas. I've already made a garland, pillow covers, and coasters. Maybe a table runner or placemats should be next. Any suggestions or links would be amazing!

The current project is stockings for Bea and me. I never had a personalized stocking growing up, so I decided to make one for myself, and yes, I am the crazy lady that is making her cat a Christmas stocking. She actually already has one, but it is small and sad.

What's happenin' in your life?

  1. What exciting news! It sounds like everything is falling into place wonderfully! It's so nice to have the option to go month-to-month - it was our experience, and the experience of a few friends, that home hunting takes ages longer than you expect. Hopefully that won't be the case for you and your husband though!

And good luck with grad school! It's such an amazing feeling [and relief] to finally have something career-path wise feel right and something to look forward to working towards!

  3. That is so awesome that you are going to buy a house! and the stockings too haha. I always had personalized ones growing up and I still think they are a holiday staple everyone should enjoy :) I'll be looking forward to your upcoming tutorials. I am considering making pillow cases for all the black decorative pillows I have to match the new colors of my living room decor.

It was wonderful meeting you at brunch and I am so looking forward to doing it again sometime :)

    1. Hi Stephanie. Thanks for stopping by! I will be studying Library and Information Sciences at grad school. So at the end of it all, I will be a librarian of some kind or another!
