We got all sorts of new bedding for our wedding: new sheets, new duvet cover, and a fluffy, warm alternative down. I love getting under the covers now, because I don't have to worry about our quilt slipping off in the middle of the night. We are all cozy through the night, and since we got the new bedding Bea has been sleeping with us consistently.
But we didn't think to ask for a coordinating throw pillow, and without it, the bed looked pretty bland and blah.
| This picture makes it look like everything matches perfectly, but in reality we have four different shades of navy on our bed. Oh well. |
So I set out to make this simple navy and white pillow cover for our existing throw pillow. It turned out better than I expected! I used only spare fabric I already had, meaning that the materials weren't exactly ideal for the project at hand. Still, it worked out great.
What I love most about our new bed is that everything is changeable. We can buy infinite duvet covers and simply switch them out when we get tired of one, and I can always make new pillow cases to match!
I'm so happy with how this came out that I'm now designing more pillow cases for our couch throw pillows.
p.s. I have a couple new buttons on the left for anyone who is interested! And of course, there is still the button made by the lovely Mrs. Biscuit!
EDIT: I've posted a tutorial on how to make an applique design pillow case here.
Meg, you are amazing! I hope that one day I can be crafty and actually make useful things for my house! Right now I'm stuck taking pictures, drawing pictures like a 10 year old and gluing things together... It's pretty pathetic, haha!
ReplyDeleteYour bed looks great --even if it's just the b&w that makes everything match! Yay for wedding presents!
<3 you!

pretty, pretty bedding.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys <3
ReplyDeleteAnd Biscuit, there is no shame in gluing! It is a legitimate crafting method.
I really want to do this with my throw pillows! I have about 10 different sized alllll black pillows and I wanted to get fabric to match the pretty red-orange flowers on our coffee table. You should post a tutorial! haha I would totally use it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion! I need to make some new covers soon, so I will try to remember to write a tutorial for it!
